The Excellence in Literacy Foundation: Testimonials

Testimonials

We have had the pleasure of working with dozens of outstanding community partners across Canada. We are proud to have been able to support them in developing their excellent programs.

"ELF training was perfectly structured to meet the needs and concerns of our community. Participation by parents and tutors was extraordinary and we have been inundated with requests to repeat our success this year. The accessibility of the materials and training provided by the Excellence in Literacy Foundation were a major part of this success, helping our community to more clearly understand the Canadian learning approach… The materials supplied by the ELF are unquestionably the most accessible our community assistants and program participants have found to deal with the literacy issues of this population."

St Jamestown Family Literacy Services, Toronto

"The workbooks and associated materials developed by the ELF have proven to be very motivating to our students. Students of all ages love reading about topics that are so relevant to them and they especially love seeing familiar names mentioned in the stories. (During our Read-a-Thon last year) our students reached a total of 2500 books and our principal had to dress as a woman and sing “I’m a Little Teapot” in front of the students and parents. This year our total was over 6000 and according to the pre-determined challenge, our principal had to shave his head!"

Wabaseemoong School, White Dog

"We truly enjoy your teaching materials. They are exceptionally well done and so very helpful to us. We look forward to using more of the materials provided as there is a greater need this year for literacy than there has been in the past. I know the children have enjoyed the different activities and can never get enough of the sheets we copy for them. There are no words to describe the difference your program has made in a child’s life. Your program is the reason so many children leave the (homework club) with a smile on their face and higher self-esteem, knowing that there is nothing the world can throw their way that they cannot overcome."

West Central Community Resource Centre, Calgary

"When I come to Homework Club, I feel like a huge weight of sadness, depression and gloominess has been lifted off me. Most of all, I love how all of us build as a community, because everyone is different, but we need to stick together and help each other to be happy."
